Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept most major plans, including Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Medicare. Many psychiatry practices in Los Angeles are cash-only, so insurance access is one of the main reasons patients choose us. Call (747) 777-7047 with your insurance details and we will verify your coverage before your first appointment.
How much does the first appointment cost?
If you have mental health benefits, the initial evaluation is usually covered by insurance and you pay only your copay. If you are paying out of pocket, the initial evaluation is $400. We confirm your exact cost when you schedule, so there are no surprises on the day of your visit.
How much do follow-up visits cost?
Follow-up visits are $200 if you are paying out of pocket. With insurance, your cost depends on your specific plan, and most patients pay only a copay. Call (747) 777-7047 and we will check your benefits before you book.
Do you offer payment options if I do not have insurance?
Yes. We offer transparent self-pay rates with no hidden charges. If cost is a barrier, ask our office about available options when you call. We will tell you the full price before you commit to anything.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. You can call or text (747) 777-7047, use the patient portal, or use the link in your appointment reminder. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice, and missed appointments, are charged a $100 fee to the card on file. Insurance does not cover this fee. Medi-Cal patients are not charged it. If a true emergency kept you from your visit, tell us and we will review it. Full details are on our patient policies page.
Do I need a credit card on file?
Yes. We keep a card on file for every patient so we can collect copays, any balance left after insurance, and a missed appointment fee if one applies. Your card is stored by our payment processor, not on paper in our office. You sign a separate authorization that lists every charge we can make, you get a receipt for each charge, and you can cancel the authorization in writing at any time.
Can I get an estimate of my costs before my visit?
Yes. If you do not have insurance, or you choose not to use it, federal law gives you the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before scheduled care. Ask for one when you call (747) 777-7047 and we will provide it within 3 business days. The estimate is not a bill, and your actual charges may differ if your care changes. Read our Good Faith Estimate notice and our patient policies for full payment and billing terms.
Do you prescribe medication?
Yes. Knarik Oganesyan is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) licensed to prescribe psychiatric medication. Whether medication is right for you depends on your evaluation. We also offer therapy-only care and ongoing medication management for patients already on prescriptions.
What happens during the first appointment?
Your first visit lasts 60 to 90 minutes. We review your medical history, current symptoms, past treatments, and any medications you take. You and Knarik then build a treatment plan together. That plan may include therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, or genetic testing to help personalize your care.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes. We offer telehealth visits for patients anywhere in California. Virtual appointments work the same way as in-person visits, including prescribing medication when appropriate.
How soon can I get an appointment?
Most new patients are seen within one to two weeks. Same-day appointments are sometimes available. Call (747) 777-7047 or book online to check current openings.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat OCD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, addiction, mood disorders, and eating disorders. We are board-certified and offer medication-assisted treatment in Burbank for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
Can you see patients under 18?
Yes, for ADHD testing. We offer QbTest from age 6 in our Burbank office. For patients under 18, a parent or guardian must attend and sign consent. Testing is self-pay at our standard rates: $400 for the evaluation and testing visit and $200 for a follow-up visit. The family leaves with a results report and recommendations for their pediatrician. Ongoing psychiatric care at our practice is for adults 18 and older. If testing points to ADHD, we refer you back to your pediatrician and to a pediatric psychiatrist.
What makes integrative psychiatry different?
Integrative psychiatry combines standard medication and therapy with functional medicine. We look at nutrition, gut health, thyroid function, and genetic factors that may affect mental health. Evidence suggests these factors can influence how well treatment works. Learn more on our integrative psychiatry page, or read background on treatment approaches from the National Institute of Mental Health.
